Fact-Finding Mission Report Findings, January 2019
APHR in January 2019 organized a Fact-Finding Mission to Malaysia to assess the new political landscape and the progress of the government’s reform agenda. A delegation of MPs from the region and beyond met with a broad range of stakeholders, including government officials, civil society groups, and representatives from various religious communities. This report – developed in collaboration with the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB) – summarizes the main findings from the mission, and sets out concrete recommendations for how the Malaysian government and other actors can improve respect for FoRB in the country.
ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) was founded in June 2013 with the objective of promoting democracy and human rights across Southeast Asia. Our founding members include many of the region's most progressive Members of Parliament (MPs), with a proven track record of human rights advocacy work.
