Dili, 20 September 2024 – The ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights Secretariat and Timor Leste Members met with the President of the National Parliament, Maria Fernanda Lay, today.
During the meeting, the Secretariat explained about APHR works in general and how the organization can help Timor Leste Members related to the human rights issues in the region. The President of the National Parliament expressed her readiness to work together with APHR. She further emphasized her confidence in the mutual benefit which will be brought to APHR and Timor Leste.
ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) was founded in June 2013 with the objective of promoting democracy and human rights across Southeast Asia. Our founding members include many of the region's most progressive Members of Parliament (MPs), with a proven track record of human rights advocacy work.
