APHR is looking for a Program Coordinator for Refugees and Migrant Rights who will lead the organisation’s work on the portfolio on Refugees and Migrant Rights across the ASEAN region including Timor Leste.

The role will involve a significant amount of research and advocacy work, as well as wider program work aimed at advancing the role and effectiveness of parliamentarians in advancing national, regional and international responses to these critical issues. He/She acts as the organisation’s focal point on the portfolio by monitoring developments, and maintaining close contact with APHR members and partners.

Contract duration: 8 months with possibility of extension.

Location: Remote, preferably in Southeast Asian capitals.

Line Management: The Program Coordinator for Refugees and Migrant Rights will report directly to the Programs Director.

Job Vacancy – Executive Director

APHR is looking for Executive Director who will be responsible for providing strategic vision and directions as well
as overseeing the operational and program implementation of the organization. The Executive Director will also be in charge of fundraising, leadership and governance, partnerships and networking, and team management among others.

Professional Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social science, political science, human rights or law. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years or more experience working on human rights and democracy programs and projects in Southeast Asia; ASEAN nationals are preferred.
  • Five or more years working in a senior management capacity position in non-government organization.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership. High level strategic thinking and planning.
  • Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future and mission to the staff, board, donors, partners and network.
  • Experience working with parliaments and parliamentarians.
  • Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors and/or membership type of organization.
  • Experience working with ASEAN and ASEAN human rights bodies.
  • Strong gender mainstreaming and human rights based programming knowledge and skills.
  • Strong experience in fundraising and donor grant management. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.
  • Solid management and organizational abilities, including strategic planning, program development, M&E and operations.
  • Strong financial management understanding including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent presentation, writing and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive experience in a multicultural setting and demanding work environment.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to motivate staff and team members.

APHR is looking for a skilled report writer to support the Inquiry on the Adverse Impacts of Industry Activities on the Environment in Indonesia through documenting, synthesizing and highlighting the key findings of the inquiry in all three countries (Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines).

Specific emphasis will be placed on:
How various industries impact the environment and local communities. Specifically exploring how it affects their health, livelihoods, and social dynamics. This inquiry aims to uncover and propose recommendations for environmental impacts such as Large Scale Deforestation, Depletion and Degradation of Marine and Coastal Resources and Pollution of Natural Water Resources.

The Inquiry aims to identify industry activities that have the most detrimental impacts to the environment and understand; how these industry activities affect local communities, and even communities across borders. And analyze the results of the inquiry and present specific recommendations and action plans of what can be done by parliaments, governments, business industries, and other key holders to mitigate (or stop) further environmental degradation.

The consultant will liaise closely with the Climate Change and Human Rights Program Coordinator. She will provide the consultant with guidance for the report writing. They will decide with the consultant on the outline and structure of the report before he/she starts writing and remain available at all times for support and coordination. The consultant will report to the Programs Coordinator for Climate Change and Human Rights.

Consultancy Notice: Website Migration Consultant for APHR Website Enhancement Project

APHR is seeking a short-term consultancy contract with a website migration consultant. The consultant, whether an individual or a company, will remotely carry out the migration work over approximately one month. They will also have periodic virtual coordination meetings with APHR staff.

The current website (www.aseanmp.org) is outdated and does not effectively meet the needs of our target audience. The last website upgrade was in early 2021, almost three years ago. The objective of this project is to create a modern, user-friendly, and responsive website that aligns with our brand identity and supports our organizational goals.

The company or consultant will report directly to the APHR Media and Communications Manager in collaboration with the Website Enhancement Team members.

Regular project meetings, progress reports, and updates will be conducted to ensure effective communication among project stakeholders. Communication channels will include email, project management tools, and scheduled meetings.

Upon completion of the project, an evaluation will be conducted to assess the overall success and identify areas for improvement. Lessons learned will be documented and shared with the project team for future reference.
